Feature time #10
Time for a new feature of my favorite works that came across my Watch list. These days I go over the artworks while I'm waiting for my game (Pixel Art Academy) to compile and it's a really nice way to fill my day with looking at your drawings and paintings. I follow a wide variety of artists (many beyond pixel art), but for my feature time selection I focus on presenting big pixel art illustrations, mostly landscapes or cityscapes of some sort. I really enjoy the feeling of being able to immerse myself into whatever world is being depicted. I've only picked one work per artists to maximize exposure for everyone (the new DeviantArt theme limits a gallery feature to 24 images), but there are many more artworks that deserve to be here. Make sure to add the artists you like to your watch and check out their previous works as well. Cheers! —Retro INSTRUCTIONS: For easy navigation across the artworks, go to this collection, click on the first image, and use arrow keys to go through the
Feature time #9
Whew, it's been a year! The tricky part about choosing favorites from such a long period is that some artists just create soooo maaaany gooood wooorks. Alas, to feature as many different artists, one per person had to be selected, purely based on my subjective taste (which skews heavily towards big environments).
Meanwhile in my life, I've been working on the graphics engine for Pixel Art Academy, which consumed exactly the year of my life when I haven't posted a journal here. You can see a demo of what's up on YouTube.
I wanted to do this update with the new Eclipse editor, but the gallery feature there really doesn't work for navigating b

Oh hello, half a year no see!
Soon after the New Year when I posted Feature time! #7 I decided to focus 100% on making Pixel Art Academy, so no new content for Retronator Magazine, no new Pixel Art News videos on YouTube. It's been a very productive year so far and if you'd like to see what I've been up to, I've started a new YouTube show Pixel Art Academy 101 that goes into it.
A new tutorial about art mediums is also coming out as part of Pixel Art Academy this week and I'll post about it with an artwork upload, so be on the lookout for that in my gallery.
That said, I favorited a lot of great art in the past 7 months so here's just the

Happy 2018!
I'm gonna be selecting my favorites of 2017, so I have to first pick my favorites since last feature time (August). As usual, this post also serves as a little update of what's been up with Retronator in the mean time.
A lot has been happening on my Patreon development blog, especially since I've finally released the first episode of Pixel Art Academy. Well, almost, it's Episode 0, not Episode 1. It's the intro into the game world. Anyway, you can play the intro here (I'm in the middle of upgrading my servers so the about/press/smallprint links are bugged, yikes!).
You already know all about my evolving YouTube channel since th
